"I wanted to take a moment to share a very positive experience we recently had involving the Ting electrical safety device that was provided to us through our homeowners policy with the State Farm office in Winnie, Texas. Several years ago, when we started our homeowners policy, we were provided a Ting sensor at no cost. I installed it in our home and honestly hoped it was something we would never actually need to rely on. Recently, however, we began receiving multiple Ting alerts indicating power surges and brownouts occurring in our home. As a precaution, I first contacted our local electric provider. They responded promptly but initially believed the issue was originating from inside our home. To ensure everything was safe, I hired a licensed electrician who conducted a very thorough inspection of our electrical system. After detailed testing, he suspected the irregular power activity was actually coming from the utility side. During this process, I contacted Ting’s response team and provided them with the alert data we had received. I was able to place my electrician directly in contact with their team, who then helped coordinate communication with the electric company and review the monitoring data together. Ting played a major role in helping everyone work toward identifying the source of the problem. During this time, we also received a Ting alert warning of a potential fire hazard. Out of an abundance of caution, I immediately shut down power to our home until the issue could be fully investigated and resolved. Ultimately, the electric company returned, replaced a failing transformer, and installed a new service line which was confirmed to be causing the surges and brownouts. I truly believe this device, along with the support from the Ting response team, may have prevented a serious electrical fire in our home. The early detection, monitoring, and coordination provided an incredible level of safety and peace of mind for my family. I want to personally thank the State Farm office in Winnie for offering this technology as part of their commitment to customer safety. It is an outstanding resource and one I highly recommend homeowners take advantage of if it is offered through their policy. This is simply my personal experience, but one that I felt was important to share."
